- Beautiful stuffed ostrich (they actually will not stuff skins found in the wild anymore because of "ethical" issues [not promoting hunting/selling] so these are like the last artifacts like this!!!!)
- Heartbeat baby. Seriously weird and giant.
- How I feel about birth and the overly graphic nature of the diagrams and videos in the "Giving Birth" portion of the museum
- stuffed African animals
- Preserved polar bear for mom!
- Dinosaur skeletons. So great!
Yesterday (Friday) after our professional development seminar I went to the Natural History Museum which is giant and right down the road from our seminar. It was quite interesting. There is a portion that simulates the 1940's earthquake in Japan. If you stand next to a giant baby in the human biology section you can hear what its like to listen to the mother's heartbeat in the womb. They also have an impeccable dinosaur display complete with mechanical but complete skeletons. Their taxidermy section for mammals and insects was also really intense!!! One of the coolest museums because its free and really educational while being interactive and interesting.
On top of that its quite obvious in their museums how much more open the Brits are than Americans. There isn't really anything such as taboo or PC because they are open about their information. As seen particularly in the human biology display. . . :-)
